A letterman’s read on where this program — and these young men — really are. No hot takes, no camera. Straight from the room to you.
After the White Out — what the scoreboard didn’t show.

You don’t measure capacity by one scoreboard. Not a team’s. Not yours.
That’s the thing I keep coming back to on weeks like this. The game gives you a number. But the number that actually decides who lasts — identity, resilience, who you keep becoming in the chase — never shows up on the board. I spent a career learning to read it. There are five of them, and I can measure all five. Most people can’t even see them until it’s too late.
Want to see yours? It’s the same read I’d run on any player in that locker room — free, about ten minutes, and it shows you the one area quietly capping you.
No card. Ten minutes. The number underneath the performance.
The letter Coach Paterno wrote me — the one about the person, not the forty time — is the reason I lasted. Your kid needs their version before a scoreboard tries to tell them who they are. That’s the whole reason I wrote the book.
